Welcome along to all Buyers!  On this page you will find everything you need to know about acting as a Buyer at any of our auctions.  Please ensure you take the time to read through the details here before attending your first Wells Auction and we encourage you to stay ahead of the pack and become a member.  Members receive email notifications for all upcoming auctions which includes a list (and photos) of items to go under the hammer.

If you have any questions over and above those areas mentioned below, please ask our friendly staff.

Registration
All new buyers must register at the office at Wells Auctions prior to the auction. Registration includes the filling out of a form, after which you will be given a buyers number for the forthcoming auction. Bids will not be accepted from buyers without a buyers number.

Bidding
It is paramount to the process that bids are provided in a clear manner to the auctioneer.  Please notify the auctioneer of your wish to bid by raising your buyers number and to cease bidding, please shake your head.  On successful bidding please hold up your buyers number so that our staff can record the sale correctly.

Absentee Bidding
Absentee bidders must register as usual and also complete an absentee bid form which must be given to the office prior to the auction.  This entitles the auctioneer to make bids on your behalf.  Absentee bids can be checked by contacting our office the day after the auction.  Note that all normal conditions apply to absentee bids.  Online absentee bids can only be submitted for registered bidders and only up to the close of business of the day prior to the auction.

Inspection
Inspection takes place during the day prior to the auction between 10am - 5pm and on the day of the auction from 8am.  Auction day can be very busy and the warehouse will be full of people, so inspections are recommended prior to auction day so that you can assess each item carefully and in your own time.  It is recommended that all items be inspected prior to placing bids with the auctioneer.

Multiple Items
If a lot has more than one item listed, the highest bidder for that lot will usually have the option to take one or as many as they require, the under bidders will then have the opportunity to purchase the items at the price stated by the auctioneer. Bidders are given the first opportunity to purchase the remaining lots, if you do not bid you may miss out.

Payment Methods
The following payment methods are acceptable:
  •  Cash
  •  Cheque
  •  Credit Card (Master Card, Visa, 3% surcharge applicable)
  •  EFTPOS - Coming Soon!!
Payment must be made in full on the day of the auction, when a receipt will be issued.  The original Wells Auctions receipt must be presented when removing items. If you have made arrangements with couriers or other removalists to remove your items, you must ensure they have your original receipt.

Buyers Premium
This is a commission paid on the knockdown price of any lot purchased. The premium is added to your invoice but shown separately.

Referred Bids
Where bidding does not reach the vendor's required price, the highest bid may be presented to the vendor.  Please check whether these bids are successful by contacting our office.

Goods and Services Tax (GST)
All auctions are GST inclusive and GST is included in the final auction price.
